Jesus Is The Only Way

Jesus Is The Only Way

Those who are lost will always find their way by turning to Jesus. Because Jesus is the only way. Jesus will lead you back home.

There is nothing like heading home. If you have ever been away for a long time, you know there is nothing like driving back into your neighborhood, pulling onto your street and eventually parking in your own driveway. There is a peace that comes in knowing you are where you belong. That is what Jesus offers every person who turns to Him — a way home.

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.

On the night before His death, Jesus told His disciples, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me,” (John 14.6 NLT). In this one simple sentence, Jesus made some bold claims. He said, “I am … the truth.” Not just that He knew the truth or pointed people to the truth, but that He was the truth of God embodied. All the promises of God and hopes of the people were once and for all wrapped up and fulfilled in Jesus. He said, “I am … the life.” only Jesus gives life to the fullest here and eternal life in the hereafter.
He also claimed, “I am the way.” The way where? The way back to God. Just as an on-ramp brings you back onto a highway, Jesus is the only way back to God and the path of life He has for you. You may ask, “In a world of so many different religions, why is Jesus the only way?” The simple answer is that there is no one like Jesus. He is the only one who fulfilled hundreds of ancient Jewish prophecies describing the coming messiah. He is the only one who legitimately claimed to be God. Other religious leaders claimed to know God, but Jesus claimed to be God. Jesus is the only one who died for the sins of all people. No religious leader claimed to do such a thing. Jesus is the only one to defeat the grave. Check the graves of the other religious leaders, and you will find their bones, but Jesus’ grave is empty.
Jesus is also the only one to offer eternal life in His name. Most religions are based on doing good works to earn eternal life, but Jesus offers life based on His finished work on the cross. Compared to everyone else, Jesus stands head and shoulders above the rest. Jesus is the only way to God.

The way back home is narrow and difficult.

Not only did Jesus claim to be the only way back to God, He also warned that other ways lead to destruction. “You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it,” (Matthew 7.13-14 NLT). Most people are traveling the “wayward road” that leads away from God. Jesus warned that road is like an eight-lane highway that ultimately leads to destruction.
The “only way” back home is a narrow way through Jesus alone, and only a few choose to walk that road. (1 John 5.12 NLT) makes it clear: “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life.”
Which road would you choose to walk? The eight-lane wayward road or the narrow and difficult road? If you find yourself lost and unsure of which direction to take, turn to Jesus and He will show you the way because He is the only way.
